ARMENIA: Tsakhkadzor is looking forward to welcome mountain ski enthusiasts.
At Tsakhkadzor Armenian ski resort good snow is expected from mid-December, and the skiing season will last till end of March.

dating back to the mid-1st millennium BC.
The entombment found in Gulutepe was made of boulders and was intended for the whole tribe. This is an archeological monument of Talysh-Mugan culture which dates back to Bonze Age and early Iron Age. There were found in the burial vault various articles of adornment made of bronze and minerals, brightly painted crockery and other household items.
After research all these findings will be exhibited in Lerik Museum of history and regional studies.
TURKMENISTAN: A new check point “Farap” has been opened on the Turkmen-Uzbek border. On the territory of Farap region, on the border with Uzbekistan, there was opened a new border checkpoint.

“Farap” check point, which meets international standards, features all the necessary facilities to ensure effective work of the personnel and to efficiently carry out border checkpoint operations including luggage and cargo inspection and transport screening. The new up-to-date checkpoint will make for improvement of the level of services provided for passengers crossing the Turkmen-Uzbek border.
UZBEKISTAN: In Kokand the khan’s palace is being restored. The palace of the former Kokand ruler Khudoyar-khan is under the restoration in Kokand city.

This architectural monument of the mid-19th century houses the city History Museum, which was opened in 1925. So far the right flank of the facade has been completely restored. Moreover, the restorers enlivened to initial brightness the colours in wall ornamental decoration of the minor and major throne halls, as well as other rooms which stayed untouched for decades and preserved their original appearance.
Wood carvers had to make anew some of the doors and eight columns in order to reconstruct the missing ones and to replace the worn-out ones. Folk craftsmen of other types of ornamental art, as well as specialists in architecture and construction, were also involved in the restoration of this unique monument of the 19th century. Simultaneously, there were carried out the works aimed at improving the infrastructure of the museum, which is one of the oldest museums in Uzbekistan.
The Kokand History Museum collection numbers more than 30,000 exhibits, each of which is a vivid proof of the city rich history, its unique culture and art. The most valuable exhibits are the Koran with the personal seal of Khudoyar-khan and some documents from the khan’s archive - orders, directions and charters.
TAJIKISTAN: The Ismailite centre has been opened in Dushanbe. In Tajik capital there has been recently opened the Ismailite centre – the sixth in the world.

Previously, such social and cultural centres were opened in London, Lisbon, Vancouver, Toronto and Dubai. The project of the centre in Dushanbe is worked out by a construction company from Canada.
The Ismailite centre in Dushanbe reproduces the architectural traditions of Central Asia. Intricate brickwork in the decoration of the building imitates the work of the builders of Ismoil Somoni mausoleum in Bukhara – one of the most significant architectural monuments of the region.
The Dushanbe Ismailite centre will become not only the place where the believers can perform religious rites, but will also serve the purpose of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Aga Khan Fund.
The majority of Moslem community of Tajikistan are the followers of Sunni Hanafi Mazhab. The followers of Ismailite faith, which is one of the religio-political movements in Islam, can be found in Gorno-badakhshan autonomous region in the east of Tajikistan. The Ismailites belong to the Shi’a Moslem community and came into being in Caliphate in the mid-8th century. The religious movement was named after Ismail – the eldest son of the sixth Shi’a imam Jafar Sadik.

CHINA: Chinese Airline Company has opened regular flights from Urumchi to Dushanbe. Xinjiang branch of the Chinese South Airlines (CSA) launched the regular flights Urumchi-Dushanbe.
... full textThe flights are operated on Boeing-757 and Boeing-737 which depart Urumchi every Saturday at 23.30 p.m. (Beijing time) and arrive to Dushanbe at 2:15 a.m. next day. The return flight departs Dushanbe at 04:15 a.m. (Beijing time) and arrives to Urumchi at 06:50 (Beijing time) on Sundays.
Until recently, for about five years, the Urumchi-Dushanbe direction was operated by charter flights. After the representation of Xinjiang branch of the CSA had been opened in Dushanbe, the company decided to introduce regular flights.
By now Xinjiang branch of the Chinese South airlines has introduced 12 international air routes which connect the administrative centre of Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region with the cities of Central, South and Western Asia, with central and western parts of Russia and some other CIS countries.
